I usually perform my morning puja with my entire family followed by breakfast. As its Maharashtrian new year my mother prepares puri and shrikhand with sweets. And for dinner we always go out to a vegetarian restaurant. As a ritual we wear green sarees or something traditional in the same colour and it’s a ritual that we follow.

It marks the beginning of spring. We being south Indians, celebrate it as Ugadi in Karnataka.  Wishing all a very happy Gudi Padwa.

On this day I and my mother dress up in the typical Maharashtrian attire, do the pooja and prepare delicious food and sweets. Besides shreekhand and puri, special kheer with dry fruits is also prepared. It is one of the brightest days and gives very positive feeling.
