Shakti Arora aka Ranveer reveals that his eyes did well up as he thought about the show shutting shop!
It is indeed an emotional farewell for Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi. The show had been a special one for its lead actors as well as the likes of Smriti Khanna (Ritika) who was seen shedding buckets of tears on the last day of the shoot. As we know, it was Radhika Madan‘s debut show and one that catapulted Shakti Arora into stardom. The actor was working in the TV industry since a decade but it was MATSH that made him a household name as Ranveer, the ultimate lover boy. Unfortunately, the last episode of the show will air tomorrow.
On being asked whether he was really emotional about the show going off air, Shakti stated, “I did not cry per se but yeah, whenever I thought about it, my eyes would well up. When I signed up for it, I vowed that I would do anything to make it a hit – Mai apni jaan dal dunga. When you value something, uski shiddat karte ho, it means a lot. I am obviously emotional now. I don’t want it to go off air.”
MATSH was one of the best performing shows for the channel for almost a year. It was the number one show for the 10pm slot. However, the constant separation and change in tracks made the viewers lose interest. Commenting on it, Shakti said, “I guess the audience lost hope that they will get to see the Ranveer – Ishaani’s romance that was the base of the show. The other tracks were not so happening as per their opinion. RV and Ishaani have got back but it is a little too late.”
Actress Radhika Madan who swept all the best newcomer female awards for her heartfelt performance also said the initial reaction was one of disbelief. She said, “I did not believe it, at first. Of course, people were calling me and asking about it, but I told them that I got no call from the channel or production house. After I got the news, I was extremely disheartened…….
