Manoj Bajpayee has received the Dadasheb Phalke Award for Best Actor (Critics’Choice) Award for his outstanding performance in the movie Aligarh. The biopic which features Manoj Bajpayee in the lead portrays the heart touching story of 64 year old homosexual professor Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras, who was detained from his job due to his sexual orientation. The film has also received critical acclaim and has bagged awards at national and international film festivals.
Talking about it, Manoj Bajpayee says, “I am honored that I am going to get the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. It is a wonderful feeling. I would like to dedicate this award to Siras for his immense struggle in his journey to prove the world about the true meaning of love.
